ESSHC, Lisbon Portugal, Wednesday 27 February to Saturday 1 March 2008

Dear Colleagues,

Some of you participated in the last European Social Science History
Conference held in
Amsterdam, March 2006, which brought together a range
of new ideas and perspectives to the study of the history of crime and
criminality.

We would like to inform you that the next ESSHC will take place in
Lisbon, Portugal, Wednesday 27 February to Saturday 1 March 2008.


The network chairs are:

Anja Johansen (University of Dundee, UK),

Paul Lawrence (Open University, UK)

Klaus Weinhauer (University of Bielefeld, Germany)
klaus.weinhauer@uni-bielefeld.de


A number of key themes have been suggested for sessions, but we would
also welcome other suggestions:

- Interpersonal Violence between social norm and criminalisation
- Hate crime and the Law
- Moral panic and security scare
- Crime and Mental Health
- Scientification of crime detection
- Law enforcement and civil liberties
- Military justice

We encourage you to submit paper or session proposals. The deadline for
sending in a paper or session proposal is
April 1, 2007.
